Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif announced that a ceasefire agreement has been reached between Pakistan and the Taliban, aimed at halting cross-border violence and restoring stability along the frontier.
In a post on X, Asif said terrorism originating from Afghanistan into Pakistan will stop immediately and that both countries will respect each other’s territorial integrity.
He said delegations from Pakistan and the Taliban are scheduled to meet again in Istanbul on October 25 to discuss outstanding issues. Asif also thanked Qatar and Türkiye for mediating the negotiations.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that negotiators from both sides had agreed to an immediate ceasefire and to establish mechanisms to promote lasting peace and stability between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
